Tokens
Trade tokens were often used by Merchants in the late 19th century and into the early 20th century to combat shortages of change and to promote business. Many different Camps and Forts used tokens, usually where change was needed such as the NCO clubs, and other locations in the camp. These two pieces were likely issued during the WWI time period shortly after Camp Lewis was established in 1917, and before the name changed to Fort Lewis in 1927.
